Commercial Architecture: Shape, Light and Purpose

From the working archive. Architecture is easiest to photograph when the building is allowed to explain itself. I look for structure before decoration: repetition, negative space, entrances, transitions, scale and the way daylight moves through the design.
For commercial work, the photograph also has a job to do. It may need to show a completed fit-out, communicate the quality of a space, support an award entry or simply make a company look considered and current. The strongest images can do that without shouting.
