Photographing a Workspace Without Making It Feel Staged

12 September 2026 Journal

From the working archive. A good commercial interior should still feel like a place where something happens. The temptation is to remove every chair, straighten every object and polish the life out of the room. I prefer to keep enough evidence of use to make the space believable.

Lines, light and proportion do the heavy lifting. I look for the route the eye takes through a room, the relationship between natural and practical light, and the small details that tell you what the business actually feels like. The result should be clean enough for a website, brochure or LinkedIn campaign without turning the workplace into a showroom.
