FARLEIGH HOUSE · NEAR BATH

Sorab & Rosie.
Quite a celebration.

Farleigh House is about five minutes down the road from us, and it’s an absolutely stunning place. Sorab and Rosie’s summer wedding brought more than 250 guests together here, with family and friends from all over the world.

A wonderful mix of cultures, two days of celebrating, and a couple with plenty to be happy about. It was a blinking lovely wedding to be part of.

THE CELEBRATIONS BEGAN IN BATH

It started at the Guildhall.

Sorab and Rosie were married at the Guildhall in Bath the previous day. An Indian celebration, family and friends together, and a party that carried on into the night. Then came their traditional wedding at Farleigh House, just outside Bath.

When you’ve got people travelling from all over the globe to be there, you want time to enjoy them. More than 250 guests is quite a gathering. For me, that’s a wonderful part of photographing a wedding: watching people come together, finding the familiar faces in the crowd and catching what happens around the couple as well as in front of them.

There was so much to take in. The house, the dresses, all those people and the excitement of the day. A beautiful place is lovely to photograph, but it’s the people who make you remember being there.

That’s why I’m drawn to documentary wedding photography. You can plan the setting and choose the clothes. The expressions and the little exchanges between people are the bits I’m watching for.

A FEW PHOTOGRAPHS TOGETHER

Have a look at that staircase.

Farleigh House has some rather lovely places for photographs. The wooden staircase, dressed with white flowers, gave us a beautiful setting indoors. Out in the gardens, the trees and paths offered something completely different.

These are some of my favourites of Rosie and Sorab together. You don’t need to know how to stand or what to do with your hands. A little guidance when it helps, a chance to settle in, and photographs where you can recognise the two of you.

A LITTLE OF THEIR DAY ON FILM

Here comes the confetti.

Glasses in hand, confetti in the air and everyone enjoying themselves. Here’s a little glimpse of Rosie and Sorab coming back through their guests. Press play for the cheers as well as the photographs.

THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU

Everyone together.
That’s the lovely bit.

With such a big celebration, there’s always more going on than the couple can possibly see. I want the photographs to bring some of that back too: their friends, their family and the people who made the journey to be with them.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM NEAR BATH

Your people.
Your kind of wedding.

I’m Michael Gane, based in Beckington, Somerset. After more than thirty years photographing weddings, I still love a day full of people being themselves. A beautiful setting, a few photographs together, and plenty of time to enjoy the celebration.

If that sounds like your kind of day, have a look at how I photograph weddings, get to know me a little or tell me what you’re planning. It doesn’t need to be a grand house or a guest list of 250. It needs to feel right for you.

You can also explore Grittleton House and Wellington Barn, or read a few words from couples I’ve photographed.

A note about the venue · October 2026. Farleigh House says it is no longer accepting new wedding or corporate event enquiries, while honouring existing confirmed bookings for 2026.
