Seymours Court Photographer

Seymours Court wedding photography / Beckington, Somerset

A Somerset wedding.
With room to make it yours.

An old stone manor, a marquee in the grounds and the people you most want to spend the day with. Seymours Court is a lovely place for a wedding that feels like you.

I’m Michael Gane, a wedding photographer based in Beckington, about five minutes away. Alice and Ben’s summer celebration here was a pleasure to photograph. A small gathering, their little daughter and a beautiful day in the Somerset countryside.

A manor house just outside the village

Old Somerset stone.
A day of your own.

Seymours Court is a 15th-century manor house on Rudge Lane, Beckington, near Frome and around 11 miles from Bath. It sits on a working arable farm, with gardens and orchards available for wedding celebrations.

The grounds can accommodate a marquee or tipi, giving you room to choose the sort of setting you want. The venue allows couples to choose their own suppliers, so you can make the food, flowers and celebration your own.

For me, the house makes a beautiful backdrop, but I’m just as interested in what’s happening in front of it. The people arriving, a laugh between friends, the two of you enjoying yourselves. Those are the photographs that make it your wedding.

Alice & Ben’s wedding

From St George’s.
To a summer in the gardens.

Alice and Ben married at St George’s Church, right here in Beckington, with a small number of close family and friends. Alice looked absolutely stunning, and their gorgeous little daughter was there to share it all with them.

After the confetti, it was a short trip to Seymours Court. A marquee in the grounds, lovely summer weather and everyone together. There was no need to travel miles to find somewhere special.

I like photographing a day like that. A ceremony in the village, then time with the people who’ve come to celebrate. The photographs below are from their wedding, and you can see Alice and Ben’s full Beckington wedding story here.

Wedding photography without the fuss

A few photographs together.
Then enjoy the party.

You don’t need to arrive knowing how to stand or what to do with your hands. We can take a little wander, have a chat and find some lovely light. I’ll give you a bit of guidance when you need it.

Of course we’ll take the family and group photographs that matter to you too. I suggest keeping the formal list short. If you fancy a photograph with a few friends later on, grab them and give me a shout. That’s often much more fun than spending ages standing in a line.

After more than thirty years photographing weddings, I still want the same thing: for you to enjoy your day and have photographs that bring back the people and the feeling of being there. You can read more about my relaxed approach to wedding photography or hear from the people I’ve photographed.

A few useful things to know

Planning a Seymours Court wedding.

Where is Seymours Court?

It’s on Rudge Lane in Beckington, near Frome, Somerset, BA11 6AZ. I’m based in Beckington too, about five minutes away. For directions, viewings and venue availability, visit the official Seymours Court wedding page.

Could we marry at St George’s and have our reception here?

That’s what Alice and Ben did. Their ceremony was at St George’s Church in Beckington, followed by a marquee reception at Seymours Court. Speak to the church and venue about your arrangements, and we can plan where photographs fit around the day.

Is Seymours Court suited to a marquee wedding?

Yes. The venue offers its gardens and orchards for celebrations with a marquee or tipi. Ask the owners about the space, suppliers, access and arrangements for your plans. They’re the people to confirm the current hire details.

Will we spend ages away from our guests?

I suggest a short time for photographs of the two of you, along with the family photographs you want. The rest of the day gives us plenty to capture as it happens. There’s more about how I work in the wedding FAQs.
