The Pear Tree Photographer

The Pear Tree wedding photography / Purton, Wiltshire

Beautiful gardens.
Your favourite people.

A little confetti on the steps, a wander through the gardens and a celebration with the people closest to you. The Pear Tree is a lovely place to enjoy it all.

I’m Michael Gane, a wedding photographer based in Beckington, Somerset. I photographed Katie and Jack’s smaller wedding here, and there was a great deal to love about the place.

The house, the gardens and the pavilion

A little escape.
Just the two of you.

The Pear Tree is an exclusive-use wedding venue in Purton, near Swindon. A former vicarage with seven acres of grounds and its own vineyard, it brings together the old house, gardens and lighter, contemporary reception spaces.

That white pavilion in the garden is a lovely spot to tuck yourselves away for a few minutes. The stone path, the planting and the trees give us plenty to work with on a short wander.

There are lots of places for photographs here. We can choose a few that suit the light and how you’re feeling on the day, then get you back to the celebration.

Katie & Jack’s wedding

A smaller wedding.
A very lovely day.

Katie and Jack celebrated with a small number of their close family and friends. Confetti as they walked down the steps, those wonderful gardens and a beautiful reception setting. It was a pleasure to be there with them.

Katie looked absolutely beautiful. I love the photograph of her on the curved teal seat, with the shape of her dress spread out around her. And the library gave us another lovely corner for a photograph of the two of them together.

You can read Katie and Jack’s wedding story for more about their day and all six photographs.

The reception and evening celebrations

Room to gather.
And room to party.

The Orangery is the venue’s dining space, with tall windows and a glass roof that bring the gardens into view. Katie and Jack’s white tables and soft pink details looked beautiful in there.

The Bartlett Bar and Lounge has a separate dancefloor for the evening celebrations. I like a venue where the party has a lovely space of its own. Once you’ve got your favourite people together, make the most of it.

For a closer look at the spaces and how the venue arranges the day, visit The Pear Tree’s official wedding page.

Comfortable in front of the camera

A little guidance.
Plenty of time with your guests.

You don’t need to know how to pose. We’ll have a chat, take a little walk and make some photographs together. I’ll help you settle in, and keep an eye out for the moments happening around you.

Of course we can take the family and group photographs that matter to you. I suggest keeping the formal list short, then leaving room for fun, impromptu photographs with your friends as the day goes on.

After more than thirty years photographing weddings, I’m drawn to the days where people feel comfortable being themselves. There’s more about how I photograph weddings, and you can read what couples have said about having me there.

Planning a wedding at The Pear Tree

A few things you might be wondering.

Is The Pear Tree suitable for a smaller wedding?

Katie and Jack celebrated here with a smaller guest list, and it was a lovely setting for them. Tell the venue how many people you’re thinking of inviting so the team can explain the spaces and arrangements for your date.

Can we get married outside?

The venue offers ceremonies indoors in Blossom and outside under the Garden Pavilion. Talk to the team about your preferred setting and how they plan for the weather. There’s more in their wedding information.

Can our guests stay overnight?

The Pear Tree has eighteen bedrooms, including its honeymoon suite. Ask the venue team about accommodation for your wedding, so you can work out who would like to stay and make plans together.

How much time will you need for our photographs?

We’ll talk about the photographs you’d love before the day. A little time for relaxed portraits and a short list of family photographs leaves plenty of room to enjoy your guests. I’ll capture the rest as it happens. You can read more in my wedding FAQs.

The Pear Tree is at Church End, Purton, Wiltshire, SN5 4ED. For visits and current venue arrangements, head to the venue’s own website.
